Parents play an active role in decision making at RKA. The General Parents’ Association meets every month, typically on the first Monday evening at 7:00. The two primary functions of the PA are to open the lines of communication between parents and school officials regarding general school matters and to raise money to help support additional services or programs for students such as Jupiter Grades or arts programming. We encourage all parents to become a part of the RKA Parents’ Association. Membership information is included in this Opening Day Packet.
Parents are also involved in a number of RKA school committees where we review school data and make decisions about structures, policies and practices here at the school. Each month I will be writing to you in this section summarizing the activities of each of those committees. To become involved in any of the committees, you should make your interest known to me or to the PA President Elizabeth Benders.
The Health and Safety Committee meets the 1st Wednesday of each month at 7:45 AM. We discuss student behavioral trends, approaches to behavior management, safety issues, and matters of public health.
The School Leadership Team (SLT) is a group of parents, educators, and students which meets monthly to determine matters of school direction and to develop the annual school goals. These are elected positions from the larger Parents' Association.
Parents' Partnership is a small committee that meets monthly to discuss matters of general, every-day school life for students.
Please get involved; we need your input and support!
