Manhattan College–Urban Ecology Teen Internship
Students who are interested in studying Environmental Studies or Environmental Science may wish to consider this excellent, paid summer opportunity. This is a jointly sponsored program between Manhattan College and the Van Cortlandt Park Alliance.
Founded in 2012, the Urban Ecology Teen Internship is a year-round paid internship for high school students sponsored by the Van Cortlandt Park Alliance (VCPA) that prepares students in the classes of 2022 for college, stewardship, and natural resource management professions. All interns work in the park alongside horticulturists and natural areas restoration staff from Van Cortlandt Park. They also complete labs, go on nature-focused field trips, and explore green career opportunities with natural resource professionals.
Beginning in 2021, eligible summer interns will also attend a tuition free, 3-credit college course at Manhattan College (Environmental Studies 310). We are very happy to welcome a special cohort of exceptional Bronx high school students to our campus with the hope that this might increase their interest in studying Environmental Studies or Environmental Science at Manhattan College.
The application deadline for this internship and Manhattan College course is May 14th, 2021. There are only 25 spaces for the college class, and the selection process is highly competitive. Applicants must attend a Bronx high school.
